Running Towards Wellness

An Inspiring Journey: Sonam Tobgay’s Passion for Fitness

Sonam Tobgay, a fitness trainer with over a decade of experience in Bhutan, has an inspiring story that reflects his dedication not only to his clients but also to his own fitness journey. With a soft-spoken demeanor and a big, charismatic smile, Sonam embodies the spirit of health and wellness. He doesn’t just guide others in their fitness routines; he leads by example, constantly challenging himself to stay fit and improve.

When speaking with Sonam, he shared that running and hiking have been integral parts of his life. “Hiking is my passion,” he says. “Every month, at least four times, I head out into nature. Being in the mountains, surrounded by greenery, gives me peace, and it recharges my energy.” For Sonam, hiking isn’t just a hobby; it’s a way to connect with nature and maintain his mental and physical well-being.

Though he enjoys the great outdoors, Sonam’s commitment to fitness doesn’t stop there. He regularly incorporates running into his routine, primarily using the treadmill at the gym where he trains. “During the day, in between my training sessions, I take long treadmill runs. It’s a great way to keep my stamina up and stay in shape,” he explains. These regular treadmill sessions have helped him balance his professional demands while ensuring he stays fit and energized.

For Sonam, both hiking and running have had a profound impact on his career as a fitness trainer. “Running and hiking keep me grounded, give me energy, and help me focus on my work. When I’m fit, I can give my best to my clients,” he shares. His consistent practice of staying active has allowed him to approach his training sessions with vitality, motivation, and positivity.

Sonam’s message to everyone is simple but powerful: “Fitness is a journey, not a destination. Start where you are, with what you have. Whether it’s running, hiking, or any other form of exercise, find something you enjoy and stick to it. Your body and mind will thank you. The key is to be consistent and remember that every step forward, no matter how small, is progress.”

When asked why one should take up running, Sonam is quick to respond, “Running is one of the best ways to keep fit. It strengthens your heart, builds endurance, and improves your mental clarity. Whether you run outdoors or on a treadmill, it’s a great way to push your limits and feel strong.” For Sonam, running isn’t just about staying fit; it’s about gaining the energy and mindset needed to lead a balanced, healthy life.

Sonam Tobgay’s story reminds us that fitness is a lifelong commitment, and by dedicating time to it, we not only transform our bodies but also nurture our minds and spirits.
