Running for Vision

Rigzin Chodra’s Mission Beyond the Finish Line

Amidst the breathtaking high-altitude landscapes of Bhutan, where the mountains stand as silent witnesses to resilience and determination, one man is setting out on a journey that transcends personal ambition. Rigzin Chodra, an accomplished ultramarathon runner and Senior Purchasing Manager at Amankora Bhutan, is dedicating his run at this year’s Bhutan International Marathon to a cause far greater than the race itself—he is running to restore vision, to inspire hope, and to change lives through the gift of sight.

For Rigzin, running has never been about competition. It has been about endurance, resilience, and the sheer joy of pushing human limits. His experience speaks volumes—having completed the grueling Tour of the Dragon eight times and participated in the UTMB World Series, including the renowned HOKA Chiang Mai Thailand by UTMB, where he ranked 176th overall out of 2022 runners. But this race, the Bhutan International Marathon on March 1st, is different. This time, his run carries a mission— incredible initiative, Blind Loyalty Trust.

Registration is now open for the BIM 2025.

A few years ago, Amanda faced a life-altering challenge when she lost sight in her right eye due to a rare infection. It was an experience that tested her strength, but instead of letting adversity define her, she turned it into an opportunity to change lives. Through Blind Loyalty Trust, she began funding surgeries for underprivileged patients in remote South African communities, where 80% of blindness cases are reversible. With just $230, a person can regain their eyesight—an amount that could mean the difference between darkness and light.

Amanda’s passion for endurance running became a driving force behind one of her fundraising initiatives, Run for Vision. This movement encourages runners across the world to dedicate their races to raising awareness and funds for those in need. And now, Rigzin is joining this cause, running not for medals, but for a vision—literally and figuratively.

On March 1st, as Rigzin takes each step through Bhutan’s breathtaking trails, his mind won’t be on the rankings or the competition. Instead, it will be on the lives that could be changed, the faces that could see again, and the hope that his run can ignite.

For him, this is not just a marathon—it is a statement of love, resilience, and the unwavering belief that a single step can create ripples of impact. When he crosses that finish line, he won’t just be celebrating another run completed; he will be celebrating the sight restored, the futures changed, and the message that kindness, in any form, can heal the world.

Rigzin’s journey is not just his own—it is a call to all of us to be part of something bigger. Whether you are a runner, a supporter, or someone who believes in the power of giving, you can contribute to Run for Vision and Blind Loyalty Trust. Every step, every donation, and every shared story brings someone closer to seeing the world again.
