Punakha, Bhutan – March 1, 2025 – The 11th Bhutan International Marathon has once again proven that it is much more than just a race—it is a celebration of passion, perseverance, and the deep connection between the runners and the stunning landscapes of Bhutan. As the Race Director, I am beyond thrilled to have witnessed the exceptional spirit displayed by athletes from across the globe who joined us on this unforgettable journey.
This year, the Bhutan International Marathon saw 255 registered runners, surpassing our initial expectations of 250 participants. Among them, 95 runners came from outside Bhutan, including 36 international tourists, 25 SAARC runners, and 34 expatriates, highlighting Bhutan’s rising status as a premier sports tourism destination. The marathon continues to attract athletes from all over the world, eager to experience Bhutan’s natural beauty and unique culture.
The course itself, set against the backdrop of the historic Punakha valley, winds through serene villages, lush forests, and along the scenic banks of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. This breathtaking setting, combined with the high-altitude race conditions, truly tests both the physical and mental endurance of every runner.
This year’s theme, “Mindful Miles,” invited all participants to embrace each step with mindfulness, connecting with the present moment and finding peace and strength in motion. Whether it was a seasoned athlete or a first-time marathoner, each runner brought their own story to the event, making it a truly special experience.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all participants for their exceptional efforts. Here are the race results:
