Welcome to Punakha, where the rivers run deep, the mountains rise high, and the air carries a quiet sense of anticipation. As we prepare for the 12th Bhutan International Marathon, we are truly pleased to welcome you to this special edition. Built on the journey of eleven memorable races, this year’s marathon continues to celebrate what we call the ascent of happiness, a journey of endurance, joy, and personal triumph.
All participants are requested to attend the Pre Race Program on 6 March 2026 at the Punakha Multi Sports Hall in Khuruthang. The hall will be open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a lunch break from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. This is when you will complete your final registration confirmation, receive your bib number, collect your race bag, and watch the official race briefing.
If you are already registered, please begin at Desk 1 for registration confirmation. Simply share your name or your travel agent’s name with our registration team. We have all your details in our system, so there is no need to present additional documents. Once your registration is confirmed and your bib number is allocated, you may proceed to Desk 3 or Desk 4 to collect your race bag. Your bag will include your bib number, timing chip, T shirt, and some light refreshments.
For those registering on the spot, you may fill out the registration form and complete the payment process at Desk 1. After your registration is processed, please visit Desk 2 to receive your bib number and race bag.
Inside the hall, the official race briefing will be playing on a large screen throughout the day. We strongly encourage you to take a few moments to watch it carefully, as it covers important details about the route, timing, and safety guidelines. Hot coffee will be available, and a photo booth will be set up so you can capture your pre race memories. Our information desk team will be ready to assist you with any questions, and a T shirt exchange desk will be available should you need a different size.
When you collect your race bag, you will receive a sticker. Please write your name, bib number, and contact details on it and attach it securely to your bag. This small step will make it much easier for you to identify your belongings after the race.
On race morning, 7 March 2026, shuttle buses will depart at 6:00 AM from the Khuruthang Bus Stop to take participants to the starting line for both the Full Marathon and the Half Marathon. Our volunteers will be present to guide you. At the start area, your bags will be collected by our sweeper team and transported safely to the finish line, where you can collect them once you complete your run.
We kindly ask participants and supporters to avoid driving personal vehicles, especially tourist vehicles, along the race route. Please do not drive alongside runners. Keeping the roads clear is important for safety and for maintaining the spirit of the event.
